Nextera AS is established |
Friday, 09 October 2009 06:10 |
In August 2009, the company Nextera AS was established, based on a proprietary new phage display technology. Nextera utilizes the pVII capsid protein of filamentous bacteriophages as a scaffold for display of peptides and proteins.
Geir Åge Løset, the inventor of the technology, will be central in developing the company forward. He has his background from the group of Professor Inger Sandlie at the Department of Molecular Biosciences, the University of Oslo, a lab with a world class track record within engineering of biological molecules such as antibodies and T-cell receptors. Professor Sandlie has over the last twenty years had a strong focus on engineering of the specific detecting molecules of the adaptive immune system, with an aim of developing new therapeutic molecules. The invention which is the basis for the company formation, brings the potential of simplifying detection and maturation of new potential biological drugs. Nextera AS has a close relationship to Bio-Medisinsk Innovasjon AS, the main owner of the company, an incubator and investor with focus on strategic business development. Birkeland Innovasjon AS, the TTO for the University of Oslo, is also a shareholder of the company. More info: ohbrekke[at]nextera.no, Tlf: (+47) 22958193 |
